Every McDuffy recipe uses human-grade ingredients you can actually see — real meat (beef, pork, chicken, fish), fresh vegetables (squash, moringa, carrots, broccoli), and essential vitamins & minerals. No fillers, no preservatives, no mystery ingredients. All recipes are formulated by American veterinary nutritionists.

Follow a gradual 7–10 day plan: Days 1-3: 25% McDuffy + 75% current food. Days 4-6: 50/50. Days 7-9: 75% McDuffy + 25% current. Day 10+: 100% McDuffy. Most dogs transition smoothly — some love it enough to switch immediately.

Keep bags frozen until ready to use (up to 6 months). Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or in warm water for 30 minutes. Once thawed, keep refrigerated and use within 7 days. Each 500g bag is individually sealed for convenience. Never refreeze thawed portions.

Portion size depends on your dog's weight, age, and activity level. As a general guide: small dogs (5kg) need about 1/2 bag per day, medium dogs (15kg) about 1 bag, and large dogs (30kg+) about 2 bags. Yes! We actually recommend mixing during your transition period. Start with 25% McDuffy mixed with 75% current food, increasing the McDuffy portion every few days until fully transitioned.

When food is "AAFCO balanced," it meets all minimum nutrient requirements for your dog's complete nutrition. Each McDuffy recipe has a different caloric density and moisture level. Chicken & Rice is very calorie-dense and low in moisture, so your dog needs a smaller serving to get complete nutrition. Recipes like Surf & Turf or Farmyard Feast have higher moisture content and lower caloric density, so your dog needs a larger serving to get the same nutrients. Think of it like rice vs watermelon — you need a lot more watermelon to get the same energy. Either way, every recipe is AAFCO-balanced and provides 100% complete nutrition at the recommended serving size.
